The flame monitor uses a semiconductor flame detector coupled to an electronic evaluation circuit, the detector having a maximum sensitivity in the near UV range, the evaluation circuit delivering a warning signal for the air/fuel ratio when the frequency of the detector output signal, representing the flicker frequency, drops below a given value.
