Contour encoding method for image sequence

The method includes the step of using those intraframe-coded image portions (I) or motion-compensated image portions (P) as reference value for the contour encoding of bidirectional interpolated image portions (B), which comprise the smaller interval to the respectively current bidirectional interpolated image portion. An Independent claim is provided for an application of the method for decoding of MPEG-4 encoded image portions.
