摘要 An internal portion of a living subject can be imaged by: (a) administering internally to the living subject an amount effective to generate a SPECT image of a single photon-emitting compound, the compound comprising (i) glucose or a glucose derivative that is a substrate for a human metabolic process, and (ii) a single photon-emitting moiety that is selected from the group consisting of (A) a heterocyclic group having about 3-12 carbon atoms, labeled with a single photon-emitting radionuclide, (B) a hydrocarbon group having about 3-12 carbon atoms, labeled with an allylic single photon-emitting radionuclide, (C) a thio group labeled with a single photon-emitting radionuclide, (D) an aromatic group having about 6-12 carbon atoms, labeled with a single photon-emitting radionuclide, and (E) a hydrocarbon group having about 3-12 carbon atoms, labeled with a vinylic single photon-emitting radionuclide; and (b) performing a SPECT procedure on the subject to detect the photons emitted by the compound, thereby generating a SPECT image of an internal portion of the subject. Compositions and therapeutic methods are also disclosed.
