A typewriter is proposed with character keys which, in addition to the basic lower and upper registers (92), are also provided with additional lower and upper registers (93). The typewriter is provided with an alphabet switch (4), an auxiliary function key (DOP) and a unit (5) for automatic return to the basic registers. The additional lower and upper registers (93) are provided with lower-case and upper-case letters as appropriate, the letters being typed after striking the "DOP" function key without holding it down; selection of a character of the auxiliary lower or upper register is similar to that used in existing typewriters. Once a given character has been typed, the unit (5) for automatic return to the basic registers switches the typewriter to the basic register mode. In this way, it is possible to adopt a skilled blind ten-finger method for typing texts in languages with alphabets of more than 33 letters. With the alphabet switch (4), it is possible to reproduce on the keyboard of the character block (1) various standard national keyboards without changing the selection of characters in the typing block (3). The proposed technical solution can be applied in mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic versions. |
