Shaping of bristles for brush seal

A semifinished brush element (20) is inserted into a shaping guide (12) at the inlet (11) which is slightly wider than the brush (20) and is pulled through the guide (12) to the outlet (16) which is narrower than the brush (20). The difference in width between the inlet (11) and the outlet (16) causes the metal bristles (21) to bend either more or less according to the plans of the manufacturer. The lower area (12a) of the shaping guide (12) is heated to make the shape of the bristles (21) permanent.
