Data recording devices are fixed at defined distances along the stretch of track, and in them is stored data which relates to the position of each recording device. Each rail vehicle travelling over the stretch of track is equipped with a reading device which records the positional data and transmits it to a computer system. Aided by the computer system, the data read from the individual recording devices is translated into humanly perceivable commands which are relayed to the rail vehicle drives.
