Electronic tagging system for house arrest

An electronic responding unit or tag is attached to the detainee's wrist or ankle. A central control center transmits encrypted interrogation signals at intervals, via a positioning system, e.g. the Global Positioning Satellite system. The response from the 'tag' unit will establish his location within 50 meters. The tag is battery powered and the batteries can be recharged inductively, using a charger next to the detainee's bed.
