Method and circuit for detection of mutipath interference

The method involves peak value rectification and integration of an input signal containing multipath noise and comparing the result with the unchanged input signal in a comparator circuit which reacts to the negative spikes of the noise causing the input signal to fall below the integrated value, whereupon noise reduction measures are activated. These may involve muting, blending of L and R channels, or lowpass filtering to attenuate higher frequency components in the demodulated signal.
