The device for sampling liquid and/or gaseous hydrocarbons down or at the surface of an oil well comprises a receptacle 10 housing a driving fluid 18 surrounding a flexible sampling bag 16 to receive the sample. The bag is connected to the receptacle wall by a sampling tube 20 and the receptacle has a valved inlet/outlet 28 for the driving fluid and a valved passage 22 for sample ingress to the bag via the tube 20.
