<p>The invention provides a distribution unit for treating effluent comprising an elongate channel 12 to contain effluent, a body member 10 mounted for reciprocal movement back and forth along the channel 12, the body member 10 having at least one projecting arm 11 for the distribution of effluent over a filter bed (not shown), and an effluent transfer member 16 projecting into the channel 12 for transferring effluent from the channel 12 to the arm 11, the effluent transfer member 16 and the channel 12 cooperating such that as the body member 10 approaches at least one end of the channel 12. the rate at which effluent is transferred from the channel 12 to the arm 11 by the effluent transfer member 16 is reduced.</p> |
