An optical receiver includes a photodetector for converting an input optical signal into photocurrent. A first transistor has a first resistor which is connected to its collector and receives a photocurrent from the photodetector as an input. A second transistor has its base connected to the collector of the first transistor, and a level shift circuit and a second resistor are connected in series to an emitter of the second transistor. A feedback resistor is connected to a point between the level shift circuit and the second resistor and to a base of the first transistor, an output stage transistor has its base connected to the emitter of the second transistor, and a load resistor is connected to an emitter of the output stage transistor.
