The cap comprises a central section (21) with a skirt (22) at one end to fit over the end of the luminescent tube (1), and a neck (23) at the other with an elastic lip (26) to grip the cable (3). The skirt is supple and elastic, so that it conforms to the outer surface of the glass tube's hemispherical end (7), and the elastic lip is designed to be self-locking on the cable. The central body of the cap is supple with ribs, and the whole cap can be molded in one piece from a supple and elastic material or can be made from a rigid thermoplastic body with a skirt and neck which are over-molded, stuck or clip-on.
