摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain the subject compound as e.g. a raw material for medicines or the like by esterifying glycerol with an acyl donor in the presence of an enzyme having the activity to synthesize the aimed compound. SOLUTION: This optically active glycerolα-monocarboxylic ester, which is useful as e.g. a raw material or intermediate for medicines or the like, is obtained efficiently by esterifying glycerol with an acyl donor such as an aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid alkenyl ester of the formula [R<1> is a (substituted) aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group; R<2> is H or methyl; R<3> is H or methyl; R<4> is H or an aliphatic hydrocarbon group] in the presence of an enzyme having the activity to synthesizing the aimed compound; wherein the enzyme to be used is pref. one derived from microorganisms belonging to the genus Aspergillus, Rhizopus, Penicillium, Geotrichum, Mucor.
