摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To polish a magnetic head in an optimal circular arc shape, and improve output of magnetic recording reproduction by arranging an abrasive material and a polishing layer of a binder on a flexible support body, forming the support body of polyethylene terephthalate having a specific thickness, and setting the sum of lengthwise and width directional Young's moduli larger than a specific value. SOLUTION: A polishing film is formed by arranging a polishing layer by dispersing an abrasive material such as alumina oxide, chromium oxide and silicon carbide in a binder, on a flexible support body by polyethylene terephthalate having a thickness of 2 to 4μm. It is desirable that the sum of a lengthwise directional Young's modulus and a width directional Young's modulus of the support body is larger than 10000 MPa and the whole thickness of the polishing film is about 2.5 to 6μm. Particularly, it is suitably used to polish a magnetic recording reproducing head having a gap not more than about 0.3μm. Therefore, the circular arc-shaped tip of the magnetic recording reproducing head can be polished, and output of a magnetic recording reproducing head can be increased at magnetic recording reproducing time.
