PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tablet excellent in breakage resistance and hardness and useful in the fields of medicines, confections and foods by using a composition comprising erythritol and sorbitol as an excipient. SOLUTION: A composition useful as an excipient for tableting is obtained by mixing erythritol with sorbitol in a dry state, heating the mixture at a melting temperature, cooling the mixture, and subsequently grinding the cooled product into a desired particle size. The content of the erythritol in the mixture is 50-90 wt.%, preferably 60-80 wt.%. |
