PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an artificial marble having an appearance resembling closely that of a natural marble by including a vinyl-based polymer, an inorganic filter having a difference in refractive index between the vinyl-based polymer and the inorganic filler of a specific value or smaller than it and mica pieces. SOLUTION: This mica piece-containing resin comprises (A) a vinyl-based polymer, (B) an inorganic filler having a difference in refractive index at a room temperature between the inorganic filler and the component A of±0.02 and (C) mica pieces. The component A comprises a 1-20C alkyl group-containing (meth)acrylic acid ester, an unsaturated carboxylic acid, maleic anhydride, a maleimide derivative, a vinyl ester, acrylonitrile, ethylene glycol di(meth) acrylate, etc., as constituent components. A cured material having >=1.55 refractive index at a room temperature is especially preferably when a filler such as aluminum hydroxide having 1.55-1.59 refractive index is used. The component B is not restricted and aluminum hydroxide is especially preferable. The mica pieces have 0.1-50 mm, preferably 0.2-7 mm maximum particle diameters. |
