PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a nitrile yield based on an alkane and a nitrile yield based on ammonia high at the same time by using a catalyst given by a specified formula in the gas phase oxidation of alkanes. SOLUTION: When an alkane is subjected to a gas phase catalytic ammoxidation reaction to produce an unsaturated nitrile, a catalyst given by formula MO1 Va Nbb Xe Ged Ze On is used. In the formula, X is at least one element selected from Te and Sb; Z is at least one element selected from Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Sv, and Y; a, b, c, d, e, and n rerpresent independently an atomic ratio per mole atom; 0.1<=a<=1, 0.01<=b<=1, 0.01<=c<=1, 0.001<=d<=0.1, 0<=e<=1; and n is a numeral decided by the oxidized state of a metal component. The catalyst is supported on a silica support of 20-60 wt.% based on the total weight of the catalyst. |
