PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a driver of beneficial information on obstacles in an accurate form conforming to a real condition for the driver to safely operate his/her own car against a crossing object in front. SOLUTION: Objective data for the distance, position, bearing, moving speed and the like of an obstacle in front with respect to his/her own car, which is detected by a scan type laser rader provided for the forward part of a car body, are computed. Based on the result of the computation, an obstacle is thereby specified, which is moved at the low speed of almost zero in the direction along the movement of his own car, is moved at the speed almost close to man's walking speed in the direction perpendicularly intersected with the moving direction of his/her own car, and furthermore, is closest to his/her own car. And an electronic control unit 10 is also provided, which visually indicates the aforesaid objective data for the specified obstacle, and its lateral moving direction over a display 13 located at a place in front of a driver's seat. |
