PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water repellency-treated powder that is smoothly spreadable on the skin with excellent moisture effect and causes no skin irritation. SOLUTION: The objective powder is obtained by treating (A) a powder with (B) a sphingosine derivative and (C) a Lewis acid containing an element in a group IIIB of the periodic table. As the component A, can be used an arbitrary inorganic or organic powder, preferably with an average particle size of 0.1-50μm. As the component B, are preferably used natural sphingosine derivatives such as (saccharide) ceramide, sphingomyelin, sphingo (saccharide) lipids and amide derivatives such as N-(3-hexadecycloxy-2-hydroxypropyl)-N-2- hydroxyethyldecanamide. The component C used is preferably anhydrous aluminum chloride, boron tribromide and the like. The molar ratio of the component B to the component C is preferably 20:1 to 1:1.
