PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely perform a sheet reversing operation without using a reversing flapper by imparting a curl to the vicinity of the rear end of a sheet carried from a first carrier path and guiding the tip part of the sheet to which a curl is imparted from a switchback path to a second carrier path by a carrier guide. SOLUTION: The diameter of a sheet carrier roller 204a is set to be (the diameter of the sheet carrier roller 204a) = (the diameter of a switchback roller 205a)×(1.02 to 1.05). A flag 210 projects to a first carrier path and outputs an off signal. A sheet S moving on the first carrier path 201 pushes down the flag 210, advances and outputs an on signal. The sheet S starts to form a loop from a point of time when the sheet S penetrates the tip into the switchback roller 205a and loop amount becomes large as the carrying advances. When the rear end of the sheet S passes, the flag 210 recovers to the original location and outputs an off signal. Then, the switchback roller 205a reverses and performs a switchback carrier for the sheet S. Because a curl is formed at the rear end part of the sheet S, the sheet S surely advances to a second carrier path 203.
