PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a component for contributing to in vivo reaction-inducing activity of Asterias amurensis, by using a saccharide chain having a structure containing a xylose residue, a galactose residue and a fucose residue bonded by glucoside bonds. SOLUTION: This saccharide chain has a structure of the formula [→Xyl→Gal→Fuc(4S)→Fuc(4S)-Fuc→], (Xyl is xylose residue; Gal is galactose residue; Fuc is fucose residue; (4S) is sulfation at the 4-position;→is glycoside bond; (n) is 41), preferably the formula [→4)-βD-Xylp-(1→3)-α-D-Galp-(1→3)-α-L- Fucp(4S)-(1→3)-α-L-Fucp(4S)-(1→4)-α-Fucp(1→]n ((p) is pyranose). Preferably, the saccharide chain has 10-2,000 kilodalton average molecular weight measured by gel filtration and the molar ratio of content of fucose, xylose and galactose as constituent saccharide of 3:1:1. The saccharide chain is obtained from an egg jelly of a starfish.
