PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a great increase and uniformity of the packing density of a charged coal for coke making in a carbonizing chamber of a coke oven to realize an enhanced coke quality and an increased productivity of a coke oven by charging the coal for coke making from a plural number of hoppers into the carbonizing chamber alternatively through even and odd numbered charging slots. SOLUTION: In the charging method of a coal for coke making into a carbonizing chamber 1 of a coke oven to charge the coal in an accelerated way with rotor blades, the coal is charged alternatively through each of even and odd numbered charging slots 2. Specifically, the first charging is conducted through #1 and #3 charging slots. The heaps of the coal piled up by the charging are indicated by 1-1 and 1-3 (wherein the first figures indicate the charging numbers and the second figures, the numbers of the charging slots for the piled-up coal). Then the second charging is conducted through #2 anξ4 charging slots. The third charging is conducted again through #1 and #3 charging slots. This charging procedure is repeated in an alternative manner.
