This invention relates to antitumor and antiviral alkaloid compositions, a process of producing the compositions and a method for inhibiting tumors and viruses utilizing the compositions. More particularly, the compositions are antitumor and antiviral bis-indole alkaloids which are derived from marine organisms, i.e., the marine sponge genus Spongosorites.
