PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft assembly for a washing machine which can prevent noises from being produced in a reduction gear device. SOLUTION: The shaft assembly has a reduction gear device 40 comprising an internal gear 27, a sun gear 37b, and planet gears 28a. The sun gear 37b is a helical gear made of plastic material. An input shaft 37 of the shaft assembly is inserted into the sun gear 37b so as to be combined therewith. A relative motion between the sun gear 37b and the planet gears 28a is prevented by cover members 41, 42. And since the sun gear 37b is a helical gear made of plastic material, generation of noises can be reduced. Further the movement of the gears due to the thrust of the helical gear is prevented by the cover members 41, 42 so that noises can be reduced much more. |
