PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document transporting device which can efficiently form an image by performing set-in and replacement of document automatically without imposing a set-in or replacing operation on the operator forcedly in case such a document as requiring set-in or replacement exists. SOLUTION: An automatic document transporting device is equipped with an operation panel to admit setting of the transporting conditions for the document placed on a replace/set-in document tray 5 to be fed to the reading position on a contact glass 2 as any of the replacing document or set-in document and a controller which interrupts the normal document transporting operation in accordance with the transporting conditions set from the operation panel and transports the document in any of the two modes, i.e., the replace mode such that part of the document sheets is replaced with the fed document sheet (s) and the set-in made such that the fed document sheet is inserted among the provided document sheets. |
