PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate preparing and correcting of control data and to reduce man-hours for bending try by deciding a transfer quantity of a bending jig in a connecting part between an arc end part and a straight line part from a bending radius and the transfer quantity of the bending jig and a relation between an arc length and the transfer quantity of a stock. SOLUTION: When step data of the bending jig at the time of bending a frame member for a vehicle are automatically prepared, first the transfer quantities of respective axes of the jig are calculated from the transfer quantity of the jig based on the bending radiuses RA, RB among inputted shape data. Next, elongation percentagesδA,δB of the stock at the time of bending with bending radiuses RA, RB are obtained, a difference between a product of the arc lengths LA, LB multiplied by the elongation percentage respectively is decided as the transfer quantity of an X axis. The result is put in order as a function of the transfer quantities of respective bending axes and the bending radiuses to make a data base, finally the results of respective calculations are joined together into a form of step data. At this time, a restraining condition wherein a gradually changing section is provided in the joining part is added because of preventing bending owing to buckling.
