PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a handrail rod from becoming an obstacle to transit at a narrow corridor by rotatably (foldably) fitting both ends of a U-shaped handrail bar via fitting substrates, and folding the handrail bar at the fitting substrate sections when unnecessary. SOLUTION: A latch mechanism 14 is provided on at least one of fitting substrates 11, 12, and a handrail bar 13 is fitted rotatably (foldably) at the substrate sections 11, 12. The spring-excited coupling pin of the latch mechanism 14 is inserted into a coupling hole, and the folded handrail bar 13 is prevented from being automatically separated from a wall face when not in use. The handrail bar 13 is not largely protruded from the wall face, and it becomes no obstacle to transit at a narrow corridor or a staircase. When a handrail is required, the handrail bar 13 is rotated by about 90 and protruded from the wall face, and it is automatically fixed by the latch mechanism 14 and a stopper. An old person or a limb-handicapped person can safely walk while taking a grip on the handrail. |
