PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress attachment and growth of chlorides and the like to and at a flue for an exhaust gas which is generated at the time of melting incinerated fly ash containing calcic additives so as to remove noxious materials, such as chlorides and the like depending on the properties of city refuse to be incinerated, and to ensure long and stable operation, enhancement of high slagging ratio, and acquirement of a high quality slag. SOLUTION: A melting furnace consists of two stairs, an upper stage and a lower stage, including an upper furnace body 20 wherein a combustion chamber 22 having an inlet at an upper portion thereof and an outlet at a lower portion thereof is formed, and a lower furnace body 24 comprising a melt pool chamber 26 which includes an inlet directly communicating with the outlet, a melt pool 27, a flow-down path 28 located at a side thereof, and an outlet for an exhaust gas which communicates with the flow-down path 28. The inside of the combustion chamber 22 is shaped in the form of an oval as viewed vertically, and a conduit 5 for heated air is connected to the inlet thereof. There is formed a supply port for the incinerated fly ash on the way of the conduit 5. Further, a main burner, which is vertically arranged, is connected to the conduit 5, and a water-granulated slag pit 7 is provided at the lower end of the flow-down path 28. |
