PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flashing device for a digital still camera capable of performing stroboscopic photographing which can give adequate exposure at a close range without receiving the influence of the reflectance of a subject, etc., and also capable of eliminating a light control circuit. SOLUTION: The adequate exposure is calculated based on distance information to the subject and a stop value by a digital camera, so that light emitting time is obtained. A start control signal is transmitted to charge a main discharge capacitor 16, and when a light emission starting level is detected, a light emission feasible condition is obtained by an IGBT(insulating gate bipolar transistor) 26 on-signal. A light emission triggering signal is transmitted to turn on a thyristor 20, the discharge tube 25 emits light, and the light emission of the tube 25 is stopped by an IGBT 26 off-signal transmitted just after light emission time elapses. The adequate light quantity can be obtained even in the case of the close range without a photometric circuit. |
