PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life liquid crystal display device with which the non-coloration of display is possible and which is free of the deterioration in its characteristics. SOLUTION: This device is constituted by successively providing the respective opposite surfaces of upper and lower transparent substrates 22, 23 facing each other with at least transparent electrodes 34, 29 and alignment layers 30, 31, interposing at least either an over-coating layer 28 or 33 between the transparent substrates and the transparent electrodes described above and disposing a liquid crystal layer 35 of an STN(supertwisted nematic) system between the alignment layers 30 and 31 of the upper and lower transparent substrates 22, 23. The dyestuffs of hues which are the complementary colors with the hues over the entire part are added to the over-coating layer 28 or 33 and the amt. of the dyestuffs to be added is specified to 0.1 to 0.4 wt.%. |
