<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute compression processing so as to reduce the data quantity of color image data by setting color numbers so as to permit a color with the largest number of dots within the respective dots and the color with a high probability adjoining to the color to be closed in order. SOLUTION: A color arrangement analyzing means 22 counts the state of a color arrangement in respective dots, that is, the colors and the numbers in order of a high adjoining probability in addition to the dot numbers of the respective colors in a screen image, such as white, red, yellow,.... A color number setting processing means 23 sets white being the color with the largest number of the dots within the whole dots as a '0' color number, sets yellow, for example, being the one with the high probability to adjoin white as the '1' color number and sets red, for example, being the one with the succeeding high adjoining probability as the '2' color number. An MMR compression preserving processing means 24 repeats MMR compression at every unit plane memory and stores compressed color image data in a color image data memory 8. A color number editing processing means 25 edits color image data by a correcting operation so as to change the set color number.</p> |
