摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element of an OCB(optical compensation bend) mode of high-speed response having visual field angle dependence to make the element symmetrical with the vertical line and the central line easily visible and a process for production of a good yield. SOLUTION: This element has a liquid crystal cell using a liquid crystal region of the bend alignment (or 180 deg. twist alignment) directionally formed by including means for subjecting the alignment layers on electrodes 7, 8 formed on the inside surfaces of a pair of substrates 5, 6 facing each other to alignment treatment approximately parallel with each other. In such a case, the liquid regions of the bent alignment (or 180 deg. twist alignment) within the respective pixel units are aligned and divided to the parts of at least one set of the bend alignment 114, 115 (or 180 deg. twist alignment). The liquid crystal cell 104 subjected to the alignment treatment in such a manner that the respective directions of the bend alignment (or 180 deg. twist alignment) vary by 180 deg. from each other is formed.
