<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projecting liquid crystal display device preventing deterioration, etc., of picture quality due to adhesion of a foreign matter such as dust, etc., and arc fluctuation, etc., of a light source. SOLUTION: An illumination optical system of a liquid crystal panel 18 is provided with an integrator consisting of a first lens array 21 constituted by arranging plural lens elements and a second lens array 22 constituted by arranging the lens elements corresponding to respective lens elements of the first lens array 21. Single luminous flux made incident on the first lens array 21 is divided to plural small luminous flux there, and pass through the corresponding lens elements of the second lens array 22 to be made incident on a liquid crystal panel 18 through a collimate lens 15 and dichroic mirrors 16B, 16R, 16G. The liquid crystal panel 18 is illuminated repeatedly by the luminous flux from all lens elements of the first lens array 21, and its illuminance distribution is uniformized.</p> |
