PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an electron gun durable and able to emit more electrons. SOLUTION: A needle like emitter 103 is constituted of an aggregate of carbon nanotubes. In other words, a plurality of needle like columnar graphite members having several 10μm length and made of aggregate of carbon nanotubes are bundled approximately unidirectionally in the longitudinal direction to give the needle like emitter 103. The needle-like emitter 103 has about 5 mm length an 1-3 mmϕand the tip part within 0.5-1 mm from the tip is processed to be taper.
