PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an illuninator capable of compensation deficits of external light and displaying data on the display surface of a reflection type display device with uniform brightness. SOLUTION: A light transmission body 7 provided on the illuminator for a reflection liquid crystal display device is provided with a bottom surface part 7a arranged on a rear surface of a reflection liquid crystal display element and side surface parts 7b projecting upward the display surface of this reflection liquid crystal display element on the side surfaces of the reflection liquid crystal display element. At this time, the liquid made incident on the bottom surface part 7a of the light transmission body 7 from a light source is reflected by the reflection plate 8 of the bottom surface part 7a to be led to the side surface parts 7b, and is reflected successively by the fourth surface 7b4 , and second surface 7b2 , of the side surface part 7b to be emitted from an upper side toward the surface of the liquid crystal display element through the first surface 7b1 of the side surface part 7b. |
