PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery having excellent battery characteristic such as a high capacity, high charge and discharge efficiency, excellent cycle lifetime, flatness of charging voltage and excellent battery characteristics such as quick charge and discharge cycle. SOLUTION: In a lithium secondary battery provided with a positive electrode 4, a negative electrode 6 including the carbonaceous material for storing and discharging lithium ion, and the non-aqueous electrolyte, as the carbonaceous material, power having a surface space between the (002) surfaces of the graphite structure detected by the X-ray diffraction exists in a range at 0.335-0.336 nm, and having a peak strength ratio (P101 /P100 ) of the (101) diffraction peak P101 and the (100) diffraction peak P100 more than 2.2 and a ratio of a length La of a crystal in an a-axial direction and a length Lc of a crystal in a c-axial direction (La/Lc) less than 1.5 is used. |
