PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide powder for rare-earth bond magnet, coated with a silicon dioxide film the compactness of which can be improved by improving the refractive index, without sacrificing the magnetic characteristics of a bond magnet and the oxidation resistance of which is improved. SOLUTION: Powder for rare-earth bond magnet is coated with silicon dioxide films. The absorption peak intensity ratio I (I=I1 /I2 , where I1 is the absorption peak intensity of an infrared absorption spectrum of 1,150-1,250 cm<-1> and I2 is the absorption peak intensity of an infrared absorption spectrum of 1,000-1,100 cm<-1> ) of the silicon oxide films between infrared absorption spectra of 1,150-1,250 cm<-1> and 1,000-1,100 cm<-1> is >=0.2 and the refractive index n<20> D of the films is >=1.435. |
