PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a navigation apparatus by which the traveling road of its own vehicle is retrieved simply and by which only a required road is displayed on a display part, by a method wherein a present traveling road is judged on the basis of movement data, and a guide road is extracted on the basis of the judged traveling road. SOLUTION: A navigation apparatus 1 which performs a positioning operation by, e.g. a GPS is provided with a traveling road decision means 5 which is constituted of a traveling road judgment part 8, of a traveling road extraction part 9 and of a screen display processing part 10. Then, the judgment part 8 computes a speed, an advance direction or the like on the basis of the deviation amount of the reception frequency of a GPS receiver 2, and it judges a part of a traveling road by using a prescribed method. The extraction part 9 retrieves road information on the shape and the rank of a road from a map information part 6 so as to be stored as one data string, it retrieves whether a road segment judged by the judgment part 8 exists in the data string or not, and it extracts a guide road. The display processing part 10 displays a road up to a destination on a display part 13 while a present position is used as a starting point. |
