PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the effect of simultaneous translation by generating the translated sentence of characters in a picture and generating the sounds of characters in the picture while utilizing sound synthesization and processing due to a control unit. SOLUTION: The acquired picture is displayed on a display screen 151. Under the control of a main system control unit 12, a character identification unit 16 automatically proceeds character identification to character data in the picture based on correlative translation and character data set in a user interface 121, sends identified characters to a word sentence translation unit 17, generates a translated sentence, feeds the translated sentence back to an image pickup register 14 and temporarily preserves it. Based on the correlative translation and character data set in the user interface 121, the screen display control unit 15 acquires te translated sentence data from the image pickup register 14 through the signal output of the main system control unit 12 and afterwards displays it on the display screen 151 and translation work is completed. |
