PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a defect from being caused by the cleaning of a photoreceptor by satisfying a specified expression among the time when electrification potential at the developing position of the photoreceptor is attenuated to 0 V, the radius of the photoreceptor, an angle from a developing position to a cleaning position and the traveling distance of the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: A cleaning device 7 is equipped with a cleaning roller 71 which comes into press-contact with the traveling photoreceptor 2 and rubs the surface of the photoreceptor 2. The roller 71 is made to press-contact with the photoreceptor 2 by a spring 73 attached to both ends in the device 7. In this cleaning means, assuming that the time when the electrification potential at the developing position of the photoreceptor 2 is attenuated to 0 V is (t), an expression: t<=(2πr×θ)/(360×PS) is satisfied in order to enhance the ability of capturing residual toner from the photoreceptor 2. In the expression, (r) is the radius (mm) of the photoreceptor,θis the angle ( deg.) from the developing position to the cleaning position and PS is the traveling speed (mm/sec) of the photoreceptor.
