The method involves setting the dialysis fluid flow rate to a value at which the concentration of a substance in the dialysis fluid flowing from the dialysis chamber (6) corresponds to the concentration of the substance in the blood flowing into the blood chamber (4). The substance concentration in the dialysis fluid flowing from the dialysis chamber is measured, for determination of the required dialysis parameter.
