The device has a recording device (1) for recording images and/or data of the eye. The recording device (1) has a data interface (6) for connection to a data network (7) for transmitting the recorded images and/or data. It also has an output device (4,5). The device also has a diagnosis station (8) with a data interface (9) for connection to the data network (7) to receive the images and/or data about the eye and to transmit data representing the diagnosis to the output device (4,5) e.g. a screen and/or a printer. The data network (7) may be e.g. an ISDN network. The recording device (1) has a camera (2) for detecting the eye background, refraction and/or optical nerves. The recording device (1) also has a pneumotonometer for determining the internal pressure on the eye.
