A wiper, in particular for motor vehicle window glass (10), has a wiper arm (18) oscillatingly mounted at one end on a self-aligning bearing (30), and articulated at its other free end with a wiper blade (16) that can be applied to the window glass (10) to be wiped and oscillate between two reversal position transversely to its length. A control arm (38) which extends parallel to the driven wiper arm has one end which is mounted to oscillate and another end (76) articulated with the wiper blade (16), so that during wiping it oscillates together with the wiper arm (18). The self-aligning bearing (30) co-operates with a first gear (42) for driving the control arm (38) and with a second gear (72) which co-operates with the first gear (42) to make the oscillating motion coincide with a reciprocating motion of the wiper blade (16). One axis (60) of the self-aligning bearing (18, 30) forms a driving axis of the second gear (72).
