To prevent a buildup in a rotary printing press, a rotating suction cylinder (30) is in the press assembly, with a drilling and a number of openings at the surface, linked to a suction unit. An initial working cylinder (11) in the press is parallel to the suction cylinder (20). A belt system has at least one belt (31) which moves along the surface of the working cylinder (11) to carry a printed section (20) along the cylinder (11) surface to the suction cylinder (30). The printed section (20) follows the contour of the suction cylinder (30), when the suction is activated, to prevent a buildup of printed sections. The suction is activated when the press is working at high speeds, and is not activated at the normal press speed.
