Scanned image coding apparatus

The coding apparatus (103) receives data from an image scanner (101), via an image processor (102), with transmission of the coded information and corresponding decoding, image processing and reproduction at the reception end of the transmission path. The image information is coded as image information blocks, with comparison of the actual image information block with previously coded image information blocks, for identifying similar image information blocks. An Independent claim is also provided for a decoding apparatus for transmitted coded image information.
