The invention concerns an electron source with microtips comprising: at least an electronic transmitting zone consisting of a plurality of microtips (45) electrically connected to a cathode conductor (41); at least a grid electrode (43) arranged opposite said electronic transmission zone and perforated with openings located opposite the microtips, to extract the electrons from the microtips; a grid focusing the transmitted electrons (47), arranged opposite the grid electrode (43), and having opening means comprising at least a slot (48) located opposite at least two successive microtips. The invention also concerns a device, such as a flat display screen, comprising such an electron source with microtips. The invention further concerns a method for making such an electron source.
