Heater for inlet manifold of internal combustion engine
摘要
A system for preheating the inlet air in an internal combustion engine with direct fuel injection has an electric heating element (7) in the flange (4) which connects the inlet manifold (5) to the cylinder head. The heating element pre-warms the inlet air during cold starting and can be retracted when the engine is warm. It can have various shapes including tubular or strip coils. For engines with two inlet valves per cylinder the heating element is positioned in one inlet duct while the other duct is closed by a valve (8). The second duct can have a heating element (10) under the valve, for an enhanced preheating effect.
