Assembly to mix thixotropic matter

A mixer for thixotropic matter has a vessel (1) for the ingredients and a lid (11) with an aperture (13) for a mixer (25) shaft (27) with one or more blades (29). The blade (29) pivots between one vertical position when it is at rest and is aligned with the shaft (ZZ), and a second position in which it projects sideways into the thixotropic mass. When hanging vertically from the pivot, the shaft and mixer blade may be withdrawn vertically through the lid (11) aperture (13). In operation, the ingredients are placed in the vessel and the lid positioned and closed. The mixer shaft and blade is inserted and the mixing operation completed. The mixer shaft and blade are then withdrawn and the product decanted into another container.
