The printer has ink connections (5,6) on the printer frame (1) and on the replaceable tank which are connected together when the replaceable tank is inserted. A trough-shaped transverse carrier (8) in the frame between the side walls (2,3) holds one or more replaceable tanks (4) of matching cross-section. Each carrier has a sprung protective plate (10) for the ink connection opening. The replaceable tank is manually inserted as far as an end position (12) making a connection with the ink connection using a pushing element (11).
