Method of testing the braking force on a vehicle axle during travel, esp. for lorries or lorry trailers

The method involves actuating the braking system with a defined braking actuating force, detecting the pressure change in the bellows caused by the braking reaction force and comparing the pressure change with a reference pressure change which occurs for normal operation of the braking system under similar conditions. The axle is linked to at least one fixed point and to a separate air spring bellows and has no reaction rods. When the vehicle brakes the resulting reaction force causes a moment which acts on each bellows and causes a pressure change in it.
